Future-Ready Skills for a Rapidly Expanding Sports Economy

The sports industry is emerging as a powerful economic driver, particularly across Mainland Chinese and Asia-Pacific. National strategies including Mainland Chinese’s Sports Powerhouse 2035 vision and the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030) highlight ambitious growth targets and position sport as a key pillar of economic development. At the same time, Hong Kong is strengthening its role as a hub for mega international sports events, supported by infrastructure investment, professionalisation, and policy support.

In this fast-evolving landscape, employers are increasingly seeking graduates who go beyond technical knowledge. There is strong demand for individuals with strategic thinking, leadership capabilities, and commercial acumen who can navigate complexity and drive growth.

This programme is designed to meet those expectations. Students develop competencies in strategy, marketing, finance, and data-driven decision-making, allowing them to respond to emerging trends and industry demands with confidence. The curriculum bridges theory and practice, preparing graduates not just to enter the industry, but to contribute meaningfully to its future development.

Learn by Doing: Exclusive Industry Engagement Series

A defining feature of this programme is its Industry Engagement Series, a carefully structured set of three 1-unit courses that immerse students in real-world industry environments.

Through the Seminar and Talk Series, students engage directly with industry leaders, gaining insights into current trends while expanding their professional networks. The Live Sports Event Experience provides hands-on exposure to event operations, offering students the opportunity to participate in real events and understand the dynamics of fan engagement and event management. The Field Trip and Company Visit component further enhances learning by providing behind-the-scenes access to sports organisations, facilities, and businesses, delivering practical insights into operations, strategy, and innovation.

This integrated approach ensures that learning extends beyond the classroom. Students not only acquire knowledge, but also develop industry awareness, practical understanding, and valuable connections that enhance their career readiness. It reflects a commitment to delivering an educational experience that is both academically rigorous and highly relevant to the needs of the global sports industry.
